Restrung are a trad band from Claremorris, Co. Mayo. They decided to form a group after playing at a trad session in Gilligan’s Pub in Claremorris. Although Dara, Domhnall & Róisín have known each other for years, the three never realised they would click so well together until after playing that gig. Three strong musicians, three multi instrumentalists, and three friends enjoying playing music.
Domhnall Roe is a fiddle and piano player from Claremorris. He began fiddle at the age of 8 and piano shortly after. Domhnall also plays classical violin and enjoys fusion of traditional and classical music. He is a member of the Rolling Waves music group and has competed in Fleadhanna Ceoil from the age of 10. He has numerous county, provincial and All-Ireland Fleadh titles in duet, fiddle, ceili band and grúpa ceoil. He is also a member of trad group Ildánach, participants in Siansa Gael Linn 2019.
Dara Morley age 12 from Claremorris is a multi instrumentalist who started playing the fiddle when he was 6. He also plays the whistle, piano and guitar. Dara won his first All Ireland aged 10, Oireachtas na Samhna Sean Nós Dancing in 2017, and again in 2018. He is the current All Ireland Fleadh U12 English Ballad Singing Champion. He came 2nd last year in the Fiddle Slow Airs at the All Ireland in Drogheda. He has several Scór county and provisional Fleadh titles for the Whistle, Singing, Fiddle, Duet and Trios and he is a member of Tom Doherty’s Ceilí Band in Foxford
Róisín McGuinness is a fiddle player / classical violinist, and pianist from claremorris. Her love of both traditional and classical music was evident from the age of 4. She focused on classical music in her teenage years with the Royal Irish Academy of Music and has collected High Achiever Awards. She has now returned to the traditional music scene and teaches music to students of all ages on a daily basis. Róisín enjoys taking part in Trad & Folk sessions locally. She also specialises in preparing candidates for Royal Irish Academy Musical Theory exams. Róisín plans on going to college this September to study a Bachelor of Performing Arts Degree in Irish Music in University of Limerick.
